It used to be that everyone knew exactly where their food came from. Either they were growing it themselves, or they knew the person who was.
As you would imagine, a lot has changed since then. New technology means fewer people are farming, while at the same time, farmers can feed more people using substantially fewer resources.
The good news is that, while the tools are changing, the values of the people growing our food are the same as they’ve always been. They’ll tell you that the land is their greatest asset and that the food they produce is the safest and highest quality in the world. They feed their own families the same products we buy in grocery stores and do anything they can to protect the environment and their farmland, so it can be there for their children.
Monsanto shares this vision and is working with farmers to produce more while using less of the Earth’s resources. Through our America’s Farmers programs, we hope to help educate consumers about modern agriculture, grow rural communities and schools, and celebrate women in agriculture. America's Farmers Grow Rural EducationSM , sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, helps farmers positively impact their communities and support local school districts. America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education offers farmers the opportunity to nominate rural public school districts to compete for a grant of up to $25,000.

- Grow Communities
America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, helps support local farming communities. The program, which launched in 2010, allows farmers to enter to win a $2,500 donation for their favorite community nonprofit organization, such as 4-H, FFA, schools, fire departments and other civic groups.

- Farm Mom of the Year
The Farm Mom of the Year program recognizes women in agriculture and their often overlooked efforts as part of the family farm. This annual contest allows anyone to nominate an amazing farm mom through a 300-word essay and give that farm mom a chance to win up to $10,000.

- Grow Ag Leaders
America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders ("Grow Ag Leaders") supports students pursuing careers in agriculture by offering $1,500 scholarships in connection with the National FFA Scholarship program. The Grow Ag Leaders scholarships are sponsored by Monsanto Company and administered by the National FFA Organization as part of the National FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program.
