Ten students selected for Monsanto Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarships

(September 4, 2007) - Ten Hawaii students were awarded $1,000 each in the 2007 Monsanto Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarship program.

The scholarship recipients are: Ian Dela Cruz (Maui), Jester Galiza (Oahu), Rachel Ganir (Kauai), Tatiana Grant (Oahu), Kimberly Hall (Oahu), Nicole LaRue (Kauai), Benjamin Massenburg (Maui), Kimberly Mokuau (Molokai), Monica Orcine (Oahu), and Dao Tran (Oahu).

"Monsanto is a tremendous supporter of science education nationally and of the local communities in which our employees live and work," said Paul Koehler, community and scientific affairs manager for Monsanto Hawaii. "We hope this program will support these deserving students' academic and personal development, and enhance their future career prospects."

Monsanto's scholarships are open to students of all public and private high schools in Hawaii who will be graduating in good standing and will be attending an accredited college or university to pursue a post-secondary education in a discipline related to the life sciences. Examples include agriculture, agronomy, biology, botany, genetics, horticulture, plant physiology, chemistry, crop science and soil science.
