1) I AM GETTING AN ERROR THAT SAYS MY TEXT IS INVALID, BUT I KNOW I’M TYPING IT CORRECTLY.

This might have to do with your personal internet security settings within the browser preferences. Make sure your browser is set to accept all cookies. If you are using Safari, you might be experiencing this issue because of that browser’s default settings. You can also try to use a different browser like Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome, and you should be able to vote successfully.

2) HOW TO CLEAR/ALLOW COOKIES?

One easy way: if on a PC, select the F1 key (if on a Mac, go to Help in the toolbar) and type in “cookies” in the help window. Follow instructions to clear or allow cookies.

There is a technical error when using the Safari browser. When Safari is installed, it defaults to not allow cookies. You’ll need to change your settings to allow cookies. To allow cookies using Safari, go under the menu options “Safari” and select “Preferences”, then select the “Privacy” tab. Once in the privacy tab, click the radio button for “Never” under “Block Cookies.”

3) WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT?

You can easily register for a Facebook account on Facebook.com by entering your name, email address, birth date and gender or you can vote by mail. See the contest overview page on stlgrown.com for the mailing address.

4) WHY DOES THE GROW ST. LOUIS APPLICATION ASK PERMISSION TO ACCESS MY INFORMATION?

The Grow St. Louis Application is asking permission to access your information for security purposes. We use this permission to access your unique Facebook user ID. That ID is used to prevent voting fraud throughout the contest. It also accesses whether or not you have liked the Grow St. Louis page on Facebook. We utilize these features to secure the contest and to help promote the contest via more page likes.

5) THE VOTING APPLICATION PAGE DOESN'T LOAD FOR ME

This might be because you are using a browser version that is not supported by the application - please be sure you are using the most current version of your internet browser. If you are using the most current version be sure your browser is set to accept cookies (see FAQ #2 for instructions on how to check and set cookies). Also, be sure that your Facebook privacy settings do not block third party applications (see: Facebook Privacy Settings and Facebook application settings).
