National Agricultural Sales Career Development Event

Career opportunities related to agriculture abound, going far beyond traditional work on a farm. The FFA has identified more than 350 fields of study and employment that students interested in agriculture may consider. These include a wide range of fields, such as turf management, biotechnology research, food science, forestry management, engineering and technology, and agricultural sales.

The FFA Career Development Event (CDE) highlights 23 of these fields, and provides students a n opportunity to connect classroom experiences with real-life situations. Monsanto has chosen to sponsor the National Agricultural Sales CDE. This competitive event includes sales presentations, a written exam, a team sales situation, and practicums that include telephone order taking and customer service, customer relations skills, and advertising and promotion. To compete in the national competition, teams compete at local and state levels to earn the opportunity to represent their respective states.
