AgriScience is the fastest growing career field within agriculture, currently employing 28.8% of all agriculturists. The AgriScience Student Program provides scholarships to FFA members planning to pursue a college degree in agricultural science, thereby insuring a reliable supply of AgriScience graduates to meet the private and public agribusiness sectors' needs.

Study of Biotech Wins Major Award
Robert Foertsch, a member of the Wyndmere FFA Chapter, was named 2005 FFA AgriScience Student of the Year. Foertsch conducted a study on how to modify the photosynthesis of corn. The purpose of this study was to discover a way to increase crop production by converting corn photosynthesis types to beome sufficient in certain insufficient environments. Although his results were inconclusive, he feels that his study is a major breakthrough in changing photosynthesis.
This is one example of how students in FFA practice real-world career skills through integrated agricultural education. Foertsch is currently a freshman at North Dakota State University, pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. He plans to work in research, trying to advance the future of agriculture. He is the son of Dennis and Dennise Foertsch and his FFA advisor is Scott Thiel.
