Agriculture Future of America (AFA)

Agriculture Future of America (AFA) is an organization committed to the support of agriculture. AFA's mission, since its establishment in 1996, is to identify, encourage and support outstanding college men and women preparing for careers in the agriculture and food industry.

The three key AFA programs, Internship Opportunities, Leader Development and Scholarships, are supported through association, business and corporate, individual and organizational partner contributions.

As a leading partner with AFA, Monsanto provides significant funding for scholarships gifted to collegiate men and women interested in pursuing careers in agriculture in eight key states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

"AFA is extremely grateful to Monsanto for their commitment to leadership development," says AFA President and CEO Russell Weathers. "Through their support, more young people will have the opportunity to prepare professionally and academically for careers in agriculture."

AFA scholarships provide academic tuition as well as registration fees for the AFA Leaders Conference.

"Monsanto commits its support through a partnership with the AFA because we share a common vision of supporting individuals committed to the sustainability and growth of the agricultural industry," said Ron Schinnour, former member of the AFA Board of Directors and Managing Director, Latin America North. Mike Frank, commercial lead for swine for Monsanto, replaced Ron on the Board of Directors in January 2006
