The Monsanto Human Rights Policy, adopted in April 19, 2006, demonstrates our commitment to human rights in the conduct of our business globally. The policy was developed with input from Monsanto business leaders and in consultation with key external stakeholders.
The Human Rights Policy does not replace our existing corporate policies; it operates in conjunction with them. We believe that our existing Monsanto employment policies are “best-in-class.” But as a global company, we recognize that we conduct business in countries and in an industry where human rights violations may occur. The Monsanto Human Rights Policy is our commitment to engage our employees, our business partners, and other important stakeholders in protecting and advancing these rights. Although Monsanto’s policy is similar to those of other companies, our policy considers the global nature of our business and the unique business nature of farming and the agricultural industry.
