Our advancements in breeding and biotechnology have led to the development of seed that can improve the nutrition, taste and texture of consumer foods.
We have found that our innovations in seed can help food companies add value to their products and help meet consumer demand for healthier, tastier foods. For example:
- VISTIVE® low linolenic soybeans in the U.S. and Vistive high oleic, low linolenic rapeseed in Europe allow food manufacturers to make foods with vegetable oils stable enough to eliminate the need for hydrogenation. This allows food companies to reduce or eliminate trans fats in foods. Next-generation Vistive products look to build on these benefits by reducing saturated fats.
- SEMINIS®, which provides consumers with better fruits and vegetables, has discovered varieties that offer enhanced flavor, sensory appeal, convenience and health and wellness benefits.
- OMEGA-3 enhanced soybeans will offer a land-based, sustainable source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids. Oil from these soybeans will have a superior taste profile to fish oil, with the shelf-life and stability profile similar to soybean oil.
