Monsanto’s Dicamba- and Glufosinate tolerant cotton has moved to Phase 2, where it will be undergoing lab and field testing of genes in plants to select commercial product candidates and to meet regulatory requirements.
Protection against weeds is an important tool for preserving and enhancing yields for farmers. In its first year of trials, Dicamba-tolerant cotton demonstrated excellent tolerance to Dicamba and Glufosinate with no impact on yield.
This is the first three-way stack of herbicide-tolerant technologies in our pipeline, including Genuity™ Roundup Ready® Flex-, Dicamba- and Glufosinate-tolerance. It adds two new, unique modes of action to the Genuity™ Roundup Ready® Flex system, thus providing the greatest flexibility in weed management.
This product, using innovations in modern ag biotechnology, could create options for farmers that did not exist before. If farmers are to have new alternatives to solve evolving weed control issues, we need to be looking at new ways to use existing tools.
At Monsanto, we see adding modes of herbicide tolerance as a strong example of good product stewardship and a reflection of our commitment to providing growers with the best value.
