Many farmers and people know about Monsanto company because of the Roundup Ready® trait, which is a trait that gives in-plant tolerance to Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides.  The trait was introduced to the market in 1996 and brought a whole new element to farmers. In 1996, farmers could plant soybeans and spray the soybeans with a Roundup agricultural herbicide.  With the new in-plant protection, the weeds were gone but the soybeans were still as healthy as they were before they sprayed the field. More than a decade later, Monsanto offers more than just Roundup Ready® soybeans.

Vistive® Soybeans: Responding to the growing demand for healthier diets, Monsanto's new Vistive low-linolenic soybeans can reduce or virtually eliminate trans-fatty acids (trans fats) in processed soybean oil.

Vistive® Gold Soybeans: The Vistive^® Gold trait, formerly known as Vistive^® III, is a soybean plant that delivers a trans fat free, reduced saturated fat soybean oil with increased stability for frying and baking applications.

• Stearidonic Acid (SDA) Omega-3 Soybeans: SDA Omega-3 soybeans have been enriched with steridonic acid (SDA), which the body converts to omega-3 fatty acids.
