Illinois Farmer Gains Benefits From Processor Preferred® Corn

Illinois farm operator Stan Giertz is finding value in Processor Preferred® High Fermentable Corn (HFC). The value, he says, comes from top genetics, improved yields, better profit potential and having High Fermentable Corn suitable for ethanol or high-energy livestock feed.

Giertz, who farms near Biggsville, Illinois, sits on the board of directors of Big River Resources and is involved in building yet another ethanol plant. Seventy-five percent of his 1,300 acres of corn are planted to Processor Preferred hybrids, all DEKALB®. “We’re getting more efficient production of High Fermentable corn, and our yields have been very good,” says Giertz. “These hybrids feature the latest and best technology.”
