What would you do if you had the opportunity to donate $2,500 to the charity of your choice without using your own money? It’s a no-brainer for many farmers. Thanks to the Monsanto Fund’s America’s Farmers Grow CommunitiesSM, farmers in select areas of the U.S. are registering for the opportunity to direct money to their favorite community non-profit organizations.
Through the program, eligible farmers in select counties in 1.245 counties in 39 states can register to win $2,500 for their favorite non-profit group, including FFA chapters, schools, fire departments or local food pantries.
“It’s simple for farmers who are registering for the opportunity to direct money to their favorite community non-profit organization through Grow Communities,” John Raines, Monsanto customer advocacy lead, said.
The Grow Communities program is part of a broad commitment by the Monsanto Fund to invest in farm communities in order to highlight the important contributions farmers make every day to our society, and sign-ups for this year’s program are going on now.
“The agricultural community works hard to feed, clothe and provide fuel for our country,” Raines said. “That’s why we want to help grow those communities.”
Farmers can apply at www.growcommunities.com or by calling 1-877-267-3332. The deadline for the program is Nov. 30, 2011, and there is no purchase necessary to enter or win. One winner in each of the eligible counties will be randomly selected, and a total of over $3 million will be donated.
