Providing simplicity, time savings and improved weed control for cotton growers
The Roundup Ready® Flex cotton system provides greater simplicity, flexibility and time savings due to increased herbicide application flexibility. The technology allows growers to spray Roundup® agricultural herbicides over the top from cotton emergence up to one week prior to harvest.
This wider, more flexible application window enables producers to target weeds according to the right stage of development for optimal control, versus the stage of cotton growth. That means less stress in trying to get across the field to spray over the top by the fourth leaf stage.
Roundup Ready Flex cotton was launched in 2006 on more than 2 million acres across the Cotton Belt. Growers reported they were pleased with the simplicity, convenience, greater efficiency, improved weed control and crop safety they experienced.
Many Roundup Ready Flex products are also stacked with Bollgard II®, which offers unrivaled protection from budworms, bollworms, armyworms, loopers and other key cotton pests.
Features & Benefits
Roundup Ready® Flex cotton offers a number of key advantages to cotton growers compared to original Roundup Ready cotton and to conventional cotton herbicide programs.
-
Enhanced flexibility and convenience, due to the wider herbicide application window.
-
Significant time savings* to devote to other farming operations, to enjoy leisure activities or simply to spend more time with family and friends, because of the ability to:
-
Tank-mix Roundup® agricultural herbicides with plant growth regulators or insecticides
-
Spray over the top past the fourth-leaf stage, reducing your dependence on much slower hooded sprayers or shields.
Reduce or eliminate worm sprays, when Roundup Ready Flex products are also stacked with Bollgard II®.
-
-
Less dependence on selective spray equipment.
-
Potential for greater weed control efficacy due the extended period of herbicide application.
-
Enhanced crop safety during sensitive cotton reproductive stages.
-
Ability to tailor herbicide applications to weed height/stage instead of cotton stage of development.
The simplicity and flexibility of Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex cotton is particularly beneficial for growers who will also be managing increased corn and grain sorghum acres in 2007.

Roundup® with CROPSHIELD™ Formulas Provide Crop Safety in Roundup Ready® Flex Cotton
Because cotton growing requires a significant financial commitment, producers want to be able to count on reliable weed control and crop safety to protect their investment.
Roundup® with CROPSHIELD™ Formulas were specifically developed for over-the-top applications past the fourth-leaf stage with the Roundup Ready® Flex cotton system. Only by using a CROPSHIELD Formula can a Roundup Ready Flex grower be confident that he is getting the proven, unsurpassed weed control of Roundup plus optimal crop safety in over-the-top applications.
CROPSHIELD Formulas are available in Roundup WeatherMAX® and Roundup PowerMAX™. The Roundup with CROPSHIELD Formulas were tested in over 1,600 side-by-side trials prior to introduction in 2006.
Growers who used CROPSHIELD Formulas this past season were pleased with its performance. Eight out of ten growers said Roundup with CROPSHIELD formulas have better crop safety than competitive herbicides.

Roundup® with CROPSHIELD™ Formula delivers unsurpassed weed control and is proven crop safe in more than 1,600 side-by-side comparisons. Pictured above on the left is crop injury when a competitor herbicide was applied at the 1X labeled rate. *Field trials during 2006 showed a potential time savings of up to 100 hours during the growing season on a 2,000-acre operation by planting Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex cotton.
Gin by-products of cotton containing Monsanto's biotech traits, including cottonseed for feed uses, are fully approved for export to Canada,Japan, Mexico and South Korea. Cottonseed containing Monsanto traits may not be exported for the purpose of planting without a license from Monsanto.

Always read and follow pesticide label directions and follow insect resistance management requirements. Roundup Ready® crops contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup agricultural herbicides. Roundup® agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not glyphosate tolerant. Growers should be sure that the glyphosate product used in these applications over Roundup Ready Flex cotton has been tested for that use so as to reduce the risk of leaf damage. See the Roundup Ready Flex Technical Use Guide for details.
