Bollgard II LogoBollgard® II: Unrivaled Worm Control Built Right Into the Boll

Just as Bollgard® revolutionized insect control in cotton, Bollgard II® takes in-plant, built-in worm control to a whole new level in the science of plant protection. This technology greatly reduces – and often eliminates – the need to spray for the most damaging worm species.

Features & Benefits

Bollgard II provides powerful control of an expanded spectrum of most leaf-and boll-feeding worm species, including budworms, bollworms, armyworms and loopers, as well as saltmarsh caterpillars and cotton leaf perforators, compared to original Bollgard cotton.

With Bollgard II, cotton growers can expect better boll protection that allows their cotton variety to reach its maximum yield potential. Bollgard II provides superior protection of first-position bolls, which are the greatest contributors to overall yield, from bollworms and budworms.

Other key benefits of Bollgard II include:

  • Season long control of a broad spectrum of worm pests, which enables growers to reduce or even eliminate sprays for worms.

  • Ability for growers and consultants to focus more of their attention on non-worm pests and other farm chores such as irrigation, weed control and tending to other crops.

  • Fewer insecticide sprays, which can enhance populations of beneficial insects and can minimize the flaring of aphid and mite infestations.

  • Reduced vulnerability to fluctuating levels of worm pressure and the damage that worms do before and between insecticide applications.

New:  The EPA has approved a Natural Refuge option in most geographies*

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved a natural refuge option for its Bollgard II insect-protected cotton planted from Texas east, excluding some Texas counties. Now cotton producers in these eligible regions can take advantage of noncotton crops and other plants as a refuge for certain pests and will not be required to plant a non-Bt cotton refuge for Bollgard II cotton. A structured, non-Bt cotton refuge continues to be required as part of an insect resistance management (IRM) program for Bollgard cotton in all states, and for Bollgard II cotton planted outside eligible areas.
