Monsanto’s Glyphosate Endangered Species Initiative

Monsanto is committed to sustainable agriculture and rigorous product stewardship. As leaders in the stewardship of glyphosate-based products, Monsanto implemented a stewardship program called the Glyphosate Endangered Species Initiative.

Monsanto works in partnership with growers and applicators to provide them with a simple web-based tool called “Pre-Serve” to identify areas where threatened or endangered plant species may exist near agriculture. The website provides best management practices that growers must implement with certain use patterns and application rates in these identified areas to help minimize risks to these protected plant species. We are confident that this initiative will preserve threatened and endangered plants and their habitats, while protecting growers’ options to use Roundup brand herbicides on agricultural lands.

Roundup agricultural herbicides have a very favorable environmental profile and, for most growers, following existing use directions on the EPA-approved label will adequately address any potential plant threatened and endangered species concerns.
