Every day, America's farm families rise to meet the challenge of feeding and clothing the world. Satisfying world demand is exactly what they do. America sends her bounty all over the world, and it all starts on family farms. In fact, American farmers ship more than $100 billion of their crops and products to other nations.
The Importance of the Family Farmer
The 2007 edition of USDA Structure and Finances of U.S. Farms: Family Farm Report, found that 98% of farms in the U.S. are family owned and operated. Big or small, the family farm provides the food and fuel that help run this country; in fact, family farms are responsible for 85% of the total crop production value in the U.S.
Farmers are a direct lifeline to more than 24 million U.S. jobs in all kinds of industries. Our business would not be successful if not for the support of farmers. Every year they make a decision on what seed they purchase and as a company focused 100% on agriculture, it’s in our best interest to treat them as a valued customer. The family farmer is the life force of our business and the U.S. economy – as such Monsanto will continue to advocate on behalf of America’s Farmers.
