Inventors Challenge First Place Winner: Handy chainsaw 'wheelchair'
A
chainsaw can be a useful tool, but in scrubby brush, or in areas where tree
clearing can require working in close quarters it can be a challenge. Marvin
Johnston, of McCune, Kan., solved the problem with the Chainsaw Caddie that
allows the user to clamp the chainsaw into place and push it along the ground
into areas to do the work. This puts the saw up to 6-feet from the operator,
allows work in brush clearing areas and provides low-stress handling. The initial
prototype of this little device actually used old wheelchair wheels, but Johnston
has since moved on to improved wheels for later models. See all the winning
entries here.
