Weather.com – Monsanto recently teamed up with the Weather Channel to create a new section on weather.com dedicated to weather and farming. The new Farmers Forecast, which will be demonstrated in Monsanto’s trait booth, features up-to-date weather information that matters most to the agricultural community.

Roundup Ready 2 Yield® Introduction – A controlled commercial release of higher-yielding, next-generation Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans will take place on 1-2 million acres in 2009. Several farmers who grew Roundup Ready 2 Yield production seed last season will be stationed in Monsanto’s trait booth during the show to share their experience with other attendees and the media.

Acceleron™ – This season, Monsanto is launching Acceleron brand seed treatment as part of its recently announced new seed treatment platform. Acceleron, which will come with all Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean products in 2009, is designed to help maximize crop performance potential beginning at planting to enhance the company’s elite genetics and trait technologies.

VT Triple PRO™ and SmartStax™ –In 2009, there will be a limited commercial demonstration of Monsanto’s new triple-stack technology, VT Triple PRO, which offers the first-ever dual mode of action for above-ground corn insect protection, providing broad spectrum control of corn earworm, corn borer and fall armyworm. Because of its dual mode of action, a refuge reduction for corn borer has been approved in the southern U.S. (from 50 to 20 percent). VT Triple PRO provides the foundation for new SmartStax corn technology which will be introduced in 2010, pending regulatory approval. SmartStax provides multiple modes of action with eight independent genes for above and below ground insect protection and herbicide tolerance.

Vistive™ Chef Challenge – Come see the Vistive Chef Challenge on Friday, Feb. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Vistive stage located in the Commodity Classic lunch area. The three finalist chefs in the Vistive Chef Challenge will demonstrate their recipes cooked with Vistive low-linolenic soybean oil. Tator tots served at Friday’s lunch are also being cooked in Vistive oil. In addition, Vistive spokespersons will be available for interviews regarding the low-linolenic soybean market and the expansion of Vistive low-lin products for 2009.

The Asgrow brand is launching six new Roundup Ready 2 Yield varieties in 2009, all featuring Acceleron seed treatment for early season disease protection and the AccuSure™ Seed Count System, which offers increased precision in seed count to give farmers the ability to move seamlessly from seed purchases to field planting calculations.
