Brad Godwin, Delta and Pine Land Marketing Manager
Delta and Pine Land introduces new CottonPlus programs to give growers multiple crop flexibility.

Delta and Pine Land is helping growers adjust to changing market demands by offering two new programs. A finance program and replant program will help growers facing financial dilemma with the shifts among on-farm acres.

Deltapine marketing manager Brad Godwin says these programs mark a first for both the industry and cotton farmers. And he says the flexibility it will give producers is really what makes the two programs unique.

“These programs are designed really to provide simple programs, to provide growers choice and limit their level of risk that they may take on in their day-to-day operations.”

Godwin says the finance program allows growers to do much more than just finance cotton seed.

“CottonPlus Finance provides one investment vehicle that applies to all of Monsanto’s branded seeds. So, whereas a grower plants DEKALB corn, Asgrow soybeans, or Deltapine cotton, he has one investment vehicle with like terms and interest rates that would apply to those seed crops.”

He says the second portion of CottonPlus, the replant program, is designed to provide a level of protection for growers and help mitigate risks on their farms. Godwin says Delta & Pine Land understands growers have many decisions to make on the farm, while facing many unknowns from planting to harvest. He says the program is designed to help protect any Monsanto seed brand product they use.

“So let me give you an example. Say a grower plants DEKALB corn and for whatever situation, a replant on that corn seed is needed. He actually can come back in and plant with Deltapine cotton, if he so chooses, and still be protected on the technology investment he would have on the corn and then also on the seed investment he would have with the replant cotton.”

Godwin says Delta & Pine Land understands growers’ success drives the business success. He says both the Finance program and the Replant program will create both opportunities and benefits to farmers in the South.
