As the market changes in the South, farmers are growing less cotton and more corn and oilseeds. Delta and Pine Land is adjusting to meet those changes and the needs of growers.
Kevin Eblen, Delta and Pine Land Business Lead, says as a company solely focused on agriculture, its success depends on growers’ success. He says that’s why listening to what growers want and adapting to meet those needs is essential to D&PL’s success.
Eblen says Delta & Pine Land is committed to growers and has the technology in place to help meet growers’ demands, no matter what the market looks like.
“Because we have a presence, if you will, in all the major crops essentially that are grown in the south, it’s given us the ability to look at our relationship with our customers a little bit differently.”
Eblen says one of the ways Delta & Pine Land has made adjustments to the changing market going into 2008, is through a new financing program.
“A unique approach to helping farmers get financing for their seed financing through those three crops where they get a very, very competitive interest rate financing through our Farm Flex program, and then as they make choices getting closer to planting time – whether they’re going to plant corn or cotton or soy – we can be flexible with them shift those purchase decisions around, yet give them that competitive interest rate up front.”
Eblen says a top priority for the company is research and development. He
says Delta and Pine Land will continue to bring the best technology to market
so growers in the South will see even more improvements in performance on their
farm.
