D&PL Contributing New Product Presentations at 2008 Beltwide Conferences
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (January 8, 2008) – Growers are realizing the benefits of technologies such as Bollgard II® and Roundup Ready® Flex cotton, yet are still looking for the best possible genetics containing the latest technologies for their individual farm needs. Delta and Pine Land has products from diverse genetic backgrounds containing these latest technologies, resulting in a greater choice of maturities and plant characteristics. Deltapine® Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex products demonstrated outstanding yield and fiber quality in 2007.
Some of these exciting products will be featured in presentations at the 2008 Beltwide Cotton Conferences in Nashville that you do not want to miss. Delta and Pine Land technical services team members will present during the “New Developments from Industry” session on Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Delta Ballroom C.

Gin by-products of cotton containing Monsanto’s biotech traits, including cottonseed for feed uses, are fully approved for export to Canada, Japan, Mexico and South Korea. Cottonseed containing Monsanto traits may not be exported for the purpose of planting without a license from Monsanto.

Roundup Ready® crops contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup® agricultural herbicides. Roundup agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not glyphosate tolerant. Growers should be sure that the glyphosate product used in these applications over Roundup Ready Flex cotton has been tested for that use so as to reduce the risk of leaf damage. The EPA has approved a natural refuge option in AL, AR, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, VA and TX (excluding the following counties: Brewster, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, El Paso, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Loving, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Terrell, Val Verde, Ward and Winkler.) Refer to the TUG for EPA mandated geographical restrictions on the planting of Bt cotton.
