2008 Lineup of Deltapine® Cotton Products Offers Great Choices for Maximizing Production on Every Acre
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (January 8, 2008) – The 2008 lineup of Deltapine® cotton products is stronger than ever, offering more choices in maturities, genetic backgrounds and the latest biotech traits to fit almost every situation.
Delta and Pine Land is launching new products this season containing Bollgard II® with Roundup Ready® Flex traits that have demonstrated promising improvements in both yield and fiber quality potential. The products DP 104 B2RF, DP 141 B2RF and DP 161 B2RF have shown high-level yield and fiber quality performance in university trials and on commercial farms. They join the already solid lineup of proven Deltapine products like DP 117 B2RF, DP 143 B2RF and DP 164 B2RF.
New Deltapine products for 2008 include:
DP 141 B2RF
- Mid-maturity
- Semi-smooth leaf
Based on preliminary data, DP 141 B2RF appears to offer excellent yield potential and has shown the ability to hang with proven varieties in yield. From north to south in the Delta region, for instance, this product has demonstrated the potential to deliver high yield and excellent fiber quality.
Based on trials, DP 141 B2RF holds excellent yield potential in the Southwestern market, too. It has shown potential to deliver high yield and excellent fiber quality in the Texas High Plains.
DP 161 B2RF
- Mid- to full-maturity
- Smooth leaf
DP 161 B2RF demonstrated good tolerance to the excessive heat stress cotton suffered during the 2007 growing season, delivering good yield and fiber quality. DP 161 B2RF demonstrated good tolerance to verticillium wilt, which affected many cotton acres in the Texas High Plains during the 2007 growing season.
DP 104 B2RF
- Bred for west Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma
- Early maturity
- Semi-smooth leaf
DP 104 B2RF showed excellent resilience to the west Texas weather conditions of 2007. In Texas High Plains trials, this new product has shown the ability to be early maturing without being too determinate and to maintain high yield potential.
DP 174 RF
- Mid-maturity
- Wide adaptation
Testing in 2006 indicated tolerance to root knot nematodes and a wide adaptation for DP 174 RF. A mid-maturity Roundup Ready Flex product, DP 174 RF has demonstrated outstanding lint yield and very good fiber quality across many growing regions.

Gin by-products of cotton containing Monsanto’s biotech traits, including cottonseed for feed uses, are fully approved for export to Canada, Japan, Mexico and South Korea. Cottonseed containing Monsanto traits may not be exported for the purpose of planting without a license from Monsanto.

Roundup Ready® crops contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup® agricultural herbicides. Roundup agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not glyphosate tolerant.
