Top Yield and Profit Performance for Delta Farmers Offered by YieldMaker™ Class from DEKALB® for 2008
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (January 8, 2008) – DEKALB® has introduced its 2008 class of 41 new YieldMaker™ products, all of which have been developed from a broad, industry-leading germplasm pool and tested under local growing conditions. The 2008 lineup includes products developed for improved weed control and season-long insect protection.
“Our new YieldMaker corn products contain exclusive genetics and a wide range of traits with greater standability, yield potential and drydown capabilities,” says Bob Starke, Ph.D., U.S. DEKALB Corn Product Manager for Monsanto. “Our 2008 lineup is state of the art, and we have the numbers from extensive research and field trials to back up this claim.”
“A total of 13,475 DEKALB and third-party in-field comparisons showed that DEKALB YieldMaker corn products outyielded competitive products by an average of 9.2 bushels per acre,”1 says Starke.
These same field comparisons also showed that DEKALB YieldMaker corn products were on average 0.5 percent drier at harvest than competitive products. “Together, the yield and drydown advantages of DEKALB corn delivered an average profit advantage of $28.21 per acre compared with competitive products2,” Starke says.
Along with high-performing germplasm, YieldMaker corn products offer farmers a wide selection of built-in traits, allowing farmers to select the specific Monsanto trait or trait combinations best suited for their field conditions and management practices, including YieldGard VT Triple™.
For the Delta area, five of the most exciting new 2008 DEKALB YieldMaker products include DKC63-46, DKC64-78, DKC67-87, DKC69-43 and DKC69-44. Here is a brief description of these products:
- DKC63-46 – This product offers excellent emergence and very good drydown, root and stalk strength. This Roundup Ready® product features Monsanto’s YieldGard® Corn Borer technology and has a 112-day RM.
- DKC64-78 – A 114-day-RM product. Offers very good emergence, seedling growth, drydown and test weight. This is another Roundup Ready product featuring YieldGard Corn Borer protection.
- DKC67-87 – A 117-day-RM product with high top-end yield potential. This Roundup Ready® Corn 2 with YieldGard Corn Borer product features very good emergence and excellent seedling growth, making it a good choice for grain and silage. It is adaptable to all crop rotations, including corn on corn.
- DKC69-43 – This new Roundup Ready Corn 2 product is a 119-day-RM product. It provides excellent emergence, root strength and stalk strength, in addition to excellent drought tolerance.
- DKC69-44 – Another 119-day-RM product. This Roundup Ready Corn 2/YieldGard Corn Borer product features excellent yield performance across low-and high-yielding environments. It is adapted to all crop rotations, including corn on corn. In addition to excellent roots and stalks, it provides a very good overall disease package.
